CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (MindaNews/04 October) — The driver of a fuel tanker was reported missing after armed men believed to be members of the New People’s Army burned his vehicle in a remote village in Bukidnon province today.
A source at the Regional Special Operations Group (RSOG 10) said eight still unidentified men hailed and torched the carrier, a Fuzo superglade, with plate number KER 379 at about 12 midnight of October 4 in Sitio Sunflower, Barangay San Jose in Quezon town.
The RSOG 10 source, who requested anonymity as he was unauthorized to speak on the incident, alleged that the suspects are members of NPA under a certain “Troy.”
He said that police recovered from the scene “a detonator of Molotov cocktail and a gallon of diesel fuel” and that the driver of the tanker was missing.
According to their preliminary investigation, the men hailed the tanker and then at gunpoint, ordered the driver, Ryan Tuling, to alight from the truck.
Tuling, a flagman of Montesclaros Construction, is a resident of Sitio Quarry, Barangay San Jose, Quezon.
The same source said that three of the attackers rode a black STX motorcycle with no plate number in getting away from the crime scene while the rest fled on foot toward different directions.
“This team is still conducting thorough investigation to locate the whereabouts of the said driver of fuel tanker,” the source added. (Cong Corrales/MindaNews)
