ZAMBOANGA CITY (Mindanews/14 September) – Here’s good news for travelers between Zamboanga Peninsula and Northern Mindanao.
The Aero Majestic Airways will fly the Zamboanga City-Cagayan de Oro City route thrice weekly starting Monday, September 19, cutting travel time between the two cities by at least 11 hours and costing only a little bit more than the 12-hour bus ride.
Capt. Raheel Shaikh, Aero Majestic Airways Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, said the Zamboanga City-Cagayan de Oro route will be served by a 64-seater YS11-Series 500 aircraft.
Shaikh said the response from the public has been positive and “we hope to have more bookings in the coming days before we launch our maiden flights.”
The Aero Majestic Airways will start flying the Zamboanga City-Cagayan de Oro route for only P999 and a baggage allowance of 17 kilos. Travel time is less than an hour, Shaikh said.
The bus ride takes about 12 hours and costs between P800 and P900.
Shaikh said they will also launch the twice-weekly Zamboanga City-Dipolog City flights starting September 27.
Shaikh said they are also eyeing the Zamboanga City-Pagadian City route as well flight to Sulu and Tawi-Tawi.
He said Zamboanga City has the great potentials for an airline business.
The Aero Majestic Airways, Inc., is an air transport specialist founded in February 2010 and specializing in chartered airline business.
It has 64 brand new aircrafts and helicopters that are available for charter to all airports in the country and neighboring countries, whether for a one-time charter for a special event, or long term arrangements and leasing as well as aircraft management.
Aero’s main office is in Manila but it has a branch at the Zamboanga International Airport.
