Public school teacher falls in Zambo drug buy-bust

|  September 23, 2011 - 10:17 am

ZAMBOANGA CITY (MindaNews/21 September) – Agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency arrested a school teacher in a drug buy-bust operation in this city, a PDEA official disclosed Wednesday.

PDEA Regional Director Adzhar Albani said the suspect, Raul Miang, was arrested around 4:30 p.

m. Tuesday in front of a lottery outlet in Barangy Baliwasan.

Albani said Miang was arrested after he allegedly sold a sachet containing white crystalline substance believed to be shabu to a PDEA asset who posed as buyer.

Miang is teaching at a public elementary school in Suterville, Barangay San Jose-Gusu.

However, the suspect denied that he was engaged in illegal drug peddling saying he was just forced by a friend to sell the prohibited drug.

Albani said the PDEA agents confiscated from Miang’s possession a heat-sealed plastic sachet containing suspected shabu and the marked money used in the buy-bust operation.

The suspect’s name is included in PDEA’s watchlist of allegedly notorious drug pushers in 2006, when he was first arrested for alleged drug pushing, Albani disclosed. (MindaNews)
