Operatives from the National Telecommunications Commission in Region 12 (NTC-12) and the Criminal Investigation and Detection Team in North Cotabato (CIDT-Cotabato) led the raid on cellphone shops, among them the Skyway Warehouse and Retail, MC Square, JS Marketing, CoVace Marketing and Sugni Superstore.
Of the 89 mobile phones confiscated, 37 units were from Skyway, 25 from MC Square, 14 from Sugni, 8 from CoVace with eight and 5 from JS Marketing.
Immediately after the raid, the mobile phones were placed under the custody of the NTC-12 whose regional headquarters is located in Koronadal City in South Cotabato.
Insp. Edwin Lacostales, CIDT-Cotabato head, said the store owners failed to secure permit from the NTC-12 in their sale of imported mobile phones.
