MALAYBALAY CITY (MindaNews/11 August) – The Senate Electoral Tribunal today proclaimed lawyer Aquilino Pimentel III as senator replacing Juan Miguel Zubiri who resigned last week over allegations of fraud during the 2007 elections.
The proclamation took place 3pm Thursday at the Sofitel Hotel in Pasay City.
Pimentel’s wife, children and parents witnessed the proclamation.
A recount done by the SET showed Pimentel edging out Zubiri by 258,166 votes.
After the proclamation Pimentel announced he was going to Mati City in Davao Oriental for his oath-taking. (MindaNews)
