Around 6 a.m. Friday, workers at the Cotabato City wharf found a body of male person, aged between 30 and 40, that sustained gunshot wounds on his body.
Authorities believed the victim was killed in another area in Sultan Kudarat but that strong currents at the Rio Grande de Mindanao brought his body to the wharf.
It was the second body found floating in the river since Monday.
In Columbio, Sultan Kudarat, residents discovered the body of 18-year old Eddie Navarro floating in Alip River around 6 a.m., Saturday. It bore several stab wounds.
The victim was identified by his own father, Emilio.
Emilio, in a radio interview, said Eddie went to the Poblacion last Monday to watch some shows during the barrio fiesta.
He said his son had a mental illness and that he did not expect him to suffer a brutal death.
“He was a good person. He has mental problems, so why kill my son?” asked Emilio.
Emilio has sought help of Columbio Mayor Conrado Abalos so he could get justice for his son’s death. (Malu Cadelina Manar/MindaNews)
