The country's top coaches led by national team chief mentor Vincent "Chot" Reyes will handle the two-day clinic from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Reyes, who coached the national team in the recent FIBA Asia Championships in Tokushima , Japan, is the head coach of the Magnolia Beverage Masters in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA).
BAP-SBP Region XI Director Regino Cua said the clinic will not only improve the coaching skills of the coaches but will also serve as the basis for the accreditation and licensing of all basketball coaches as required by FIBA.
"This clinic will be conducted in order to have an identical training program nationwide," he added.
FIBA is the international governing body of the sport and sanctions practically all the major tournaments in the country.
Reyes, the three-time Coach of the Year, including one when he created history by being the youngest coach to win a championship in his first tournament at age 29 in 1993 with Coney Island Ice Cream led by Alvin Patrimonio and Jerry Codiñera, will be joined by Eric Altamirano and Matthew "Fritz" Gaston.
The main topics in the clinic include developing the coaching philosophy, creating the basketball program, basic strength and conditioning, fundamental skills, organizing the practices and mental aspect in basketball.
In an absolute gesture of support, the Gaisano South Cup has cancelled its games on October 27 and 28 to give way for the coaches' clinic.
"We have common visions with BAP-SBP to advance the best interest of the sport of basketball and we are bound to support all its programs beneficial to all basketball enthusiasts," the Gaisano South Citimall, the organizer of the GS Cup, said.
Registration fee is pegged at P500 inclusive of certificates, licenses and handouts.
