KIDAPAWAN CITY [Oct 9/Saturday] – The chapter organization of the National Union of Journalists of the Philippines (NUJP) in North Cotabato held today its second general assembly and re-elected as chapter president Malu Cadelina Manar, program director of the Notre Dame Broadcasting Corporation (NDBC) based here.
Benny Queman of T Radio 96.7 FM based in Midsayap, North Cotabato is vice-president; secretary is Jimmy Sta. Cruz of radio station DXND-AM of the NDBC; treasurer is Wella dela Cerna of Wow FM Radio in Midsayap town; and Carlo Agamon of DXND-NDBC is auditor.
At least 30 radio, TV, and print journalists from towns of Kabacan, M’lang, Tulunan, Makilala, Midsayap, and Kidapawan City in North Cotabato and Tacurong City in Sultan Kudarat attended the assembly held at the DXND mini-auditorium here.
The oath taking of the new set of officers of the NUJP Cotabato chapter is slated on October 30 with State Prosecutor Al Calica of the Department of Justice (DoJ) in Kidapawan City as the inducting officer.
The group said it is committed to look after the welfare and interests of the media workers in North Cotabato, especially those facing death threats and libel.
The group is also optimistic today’s assembly will strengthen more their ranks and preserve their integrity and dignity as members of the fourth estate.
The NUJP, as an organization, is aimed at promoting and protecting the economic interests and social well-being of the press, upgrade professional skills, uplift the standards of the journalistic ethics, and implement welfare programs for its members. ***
