Bruno’s last view of Fr. Picx

By  Eizel Hilario

|  June 7, 2024 - 9:28 pm

Bruno, “companion in solitude” of Fr. Amado “Picx” Picardal as he led a hermit’s life in the mountains of Busay in Cebu City, gets to take one last look at him before his interment at the Carreta Public Cemetery in the same city on Thursday (6 June 2024).

In the morning of May 29, on the 47th anniversary of his religious profession, Fr. Picx posted on his social media platform what would be his last post: a poem about his dog, Bruno, whom he described as his “companion in my solitude” and whom he hoped “will always be with me till the end of our days.”

At noon, Fr. Picx was found dead on a garden patch just outside the Redemptorists’ retreat center, a few meters away from where he was building his hermitage. He died of cardiac arrest.

In the poem, Fr. Picx also wrote, “Whoever will go first, I know one of us won’t be consoled while gazing at the grave.” (MindaNews photos by EIZEL HILARIO)
