Children of War

|  June 30, 2017 - 4:43 pm

It’s been over a month since fighting between government forces and the Islamic State-inspired Maute Group erupted in Marawi City. The conflict forced civilians to flee to areas outside of Lanao del Sur. Many of them sought refuge in evacuation centers while others opted to stay in the homes of relatives.

In evacuation centers, the displaced families have to endure congestion even as they are forced to rely on relief goods from government and private donors. The children share the ordeal of their elders of having to live in cramped conditions aside from bearing the social and psychological impact of this violent episode of their lives.
