KIDAPAWAN CITY (MindaNews/17 November) – A gas station owner in Datu Piang town in Maguindanao who was kidnapped Sunday noon has been reunited with his family after his abductors released him around 6 a.m. today in Cotabato City, reports from the Cotabato City police said.
Rodolfo Chio, owner of Petron gasoline station in Poblacion, Datu Piang, was snatched by unidentified armed men inside his establishment.
Reports said the kidnappers took the victim to a marshy area in Maguindanao where he was held captive until his release.
Chief Supt. Wilfredo Dangane, chief of the Cotabato City police, confirmed Chio’s release but refused to give further details particularly on whether ransom was paid and if so, how much.
He just told reporters that Chio has been reunited with his family in Datu Piang after his captors brought him to Don E. Sero Street in Cotabato City.
The grapevine was awash with talks that Chio’s family paid the kidnappers some P6 million in ransom.
Initial police reports said a certain Datu Tungal and two of his men identified as Kalbu Saguili and Renoh were allegedly behind the latest kidnapping in Maguindanao. (Malu Cadelina Manar/MindaNews)
