Northern Mindanao workers get ₱39 wage hike
Effective January 16, minimum wage earners and household workers (or kasambahay) in Northern Mindanao will receive an increase in their salaries, the Regional Tripartite Wage and Productivity Board in Region 10 ruled.
Agriculture and non-agriculture workers will get a ₱39 increase in their daily pay, to be given in two tranches.
The Department of Labor and Employment said that minimum daily wage in the region will be at ₱485, but will rise to ₱500 upon full implementation of the wage hike.
Kasambahays, meanwhile, will get a ₱500 increase in their monthly salaries, bringing the monthly minimum wage to ₱6,500.
200 Filipinos repatriated from Sabah sent home to Tawi-Tawi
Some 200 Filipinos who have been repatriated from neighboring Sabah have been sent home to their respective homes in Bongao and Sitangkai in Tawi-Tawi, according to the Department of Social Welfare and Development in Region 9.
DSWD-9 said in a statement that they provided financial assistance, transportation and food to the repatriated Filipinos in their return to their homes.
The DSWD said this batch of Filipinos arrived in Zamboanga City last December 20.
