NPC to Balo-i residents: avoid banks of Agus River starting June 13
The National Power Corporation (NPC) has warned residents of Balo-i town in Lanao del Norte to avoid the banks of Agus River beginning on June 13 when it will start repairs of its 158.1 megawatt Agus 4 hydroelectric power plant.
In a statement to the Balo-i local government and on Facebook,NPC said a significant volume of water would be released through the spillway gates of Agus 4 hydropower plant and the man-made Balo-i Lake starting at 8 am on June 13 until August 2.
NPC addressed the warning to residents near the Agus 4 Power intake area in Barangay Nangka; Agus 4 spillway near barangays Nangka, Matampay, Maria Cristina and Agus 4 tailrace area near barangays Ditucalan and Maria Cristina.

Suspected BIFF leader nabbed in Maguindanao del Sur
Police said their operatives nabbed a senior leader of the ISIS-linked Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighter who had a string of murder cases in his house in Datu Piang town in Maguindanao del Sur last Wednesday.
Lt Col Ariel Huesca, chief of Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-BARMM identified the suspect as Abunwas Ibad Damiog, 65.
Huesca said police confiscated a .45 caliber pistol from the suspect when he was arrested in his house in Barangay Alongan, Datu Piang.
He said that aside from multiple murder cases, Damiog is accused of violating the Anti-Terrorism Act of 2020 for his alleged participation in the December 3, 2020 attack in Datu Piang where the attackers burned a police car and strafed the Sta. Teresita Church. (Froilan Gallardo/MindaNews)
New MisOr-Bohol shipping route to open soon
St. Benedict Ocean Shipping Lines has announced it would soon launch a new passenger route from Jasaan town in Misamis Oriental to Jagna, Bohol via the port of Guinsiliban town in Camiguin.
According to the developmental portal, CDODev.com, the shipping line will field its newest ship M/V Francisca 3, a Roro vessel to service the new route.
The company has already deployed M/V Francisca 5, a Roro ship that can accommodate 500 passengers and 30 vehicles, to serve the Balingoan (Misamis Oriental)-Benoni (Camiguin) route. (Froilan Gallardo/MindaNews)
