Police identified the fatality as Ronald Mancera Kalido, 38, of Barangay Bayawa. His wife Jennylyn, 33, and son Mamot, 3, were rushed to a hospital in Tacurong City for treatment.
SPO1 Fred Opiaza, chief investigator of the President Quirino PNP, said the family had just arrived from Tacurong City, where they attended the wedding of Ronald’s younger brother, when the grenade exploded.
Opiaza said someone from outside the house could have thrown the grenade into the Kalido residence, but he also did not discount the possibility that Ronald’s negligence could have caused the explosion. Reports said the grenade that exploded was actually owned by Ronald.
In another development, bombing suspects Mawiya Abubakar and Guiamelon Edsrapel, both arrested in Metro Manila last February, pleaded not guilty to the several criminal cases filed against them during arraignment at the Regional Trial Court Branch 23 here this morning.
