The IBP-North Cotabato chapter, in a statement addressed to media said the police should exert all efforts to arrest the suspects.
The North Cotabato are still clueless as to the identities of the gunmen
Jalandoni was shot dead by a motorcycle-riding gunman while he was inside his compound in Poblacion, Matalam, North Cotabato.
Atty. Ester Jalandoni, daughter of the slain lawyer, said land conflict was among the reasons behind the killing.
The family has a five-hectare lot in Matalam, which is being contested by a number of families in the area.
The court has decided on the lot ownership, yet the protest has continued.
Jalandoni has dismissed the reports the killing could be triggered by a personal grudge.
“I don’t know of anybody who has a personal grudge against my father. I knew him to be good guy,” she said.
“His very painful, inhuman, and untimely death during the yuletide season last year was a complete shock and desperation to all of us who are in the legal profession,” said Atty. Ester Vega, secretary of the IBP-Cotabato chapter.
IBP North Cotabato and relatives of Jalandoni called on concerned individuals who might have witnessed the crime to coordinate and cooperate with the authorities for the speedy resolution of the case.
“We want justice served to the bereaved family of Atty. Jose Jalandoni,” said the IBP Cotabato chapter in its statement. (Malu Cadelina-Manar/MindaNews)
