Injured were tricycle driver Hugh Flores, 26; Merceditas Gulong, 44, and her 13-year old daughter Michelle; Ronnel Marabujoc, 18; Andy Camsa, 32, and his wife, Lanie, 28; and two still unidentified passengers.
Reports from the traffic management unit of the Kidapawan City police said the fully loaded tricycle was on its way to Barangay Magsaysay when hit by a speeding Mitsubishi Lancer driven by Aljon Villanueva, a returning overseas Filipino worker (OFW).
Villanueva, police said, was driving under the influence of liquor.
Three of the tricycle passengers were overthrown by the impact of the collision.
Villanueva sustained no serious injuries but his car was badly damaged.
He is facing charges of reckless imprudence resulting to serious physical injuries.
The Sunday road crash was the seventh that happened this month along the Kidapawan-Makilala highway. Three of the 21 victims of these accidents died and others sustained serious injuries.
