The fire in Barangay Limaha started at 10 a.m. and was put out by 1 p.m., reports from the Bureau of Fire Protection said.
SFO4 Mario Palarca, city arson investigator , said the narrow streets leading to Barangay Limaha made it hard for firefighters to immediately get to the area while the winds fanned the flames, which spread to neighboring homes in puroks 7, 8, 9 and 12..,
Palarca said it took almost four hours for firefighters to put out the fire as they had difficulty penetrating the narrow streets to the fire scene. Investigation is still ongoing to determine the cause of the fire.
Victor Abucejo, Limaha brangay chair, said the homeless families took refuge at the barangay’s elementary school.(Alden Pantaleon/MindaNews)
