A power blackout hit the southeastern Mindanao region, including Davao City, and the southwestern Mindanao region, including General Santos City, at about 3:30 pm Friday and repair personnel found that it was caused by a snapped wire at the substation in Kibawe, Bukidnon.
A statement released by the Transco management said that “a dropwire at the switchyard of Kibawe substation snapped at around 3:30 pm today and tripped bus breakers causing power loss to Southestern Mindanao and Davao City, and Southwestern Mindanao and General Santos City areas”.
“Crews are rushing repairs now, while power is restored to limited areas as yet,” the Transco said, in a statement, prior to the restoration of full power to the affected areas. “This is only a momentary technical problem.”
Power in Davao City was restored at past 4:00 pm. (MindaNews)
