Socrates, son of the late provincial board member Bernardo Piñol, Sr., is the youngest among siblings Emmanuel, three-term governor, now vice governor; Bernardo, Jr., 2nd district Representative; Joselito, mayor of M’lang and Efren, mayor of Magpet.
Two more Piñol brothers are holding positions in government: Ferdinand is the Congressman’s chief of staff while Patricio is the vice governor’s executive secretary.
In his first privilege speech today, Socrates said, “our banner should be Barangay Muna Bago Bayan which means improvements should be first done in the villages.”
He also urged his fellow barangay chairmen to support the programs and priorities of the provincial government and to support the Cotabato Health Insurance Program (CHIP) initiated by the provincial government.
He pledged to support the agriculture program of his congressman-brother, especially in planting rubber, oil palm and coconut.
Vice Governor Piñol said his family is not building a political dynasty.
He said the fate of his brothers in politics “depends on the people who voted and put them in various political positions.” (MindaNews)
