Killed were Datu Wata Sangkigay, chief security officer of La Frutera, Inc., a banana firm owned by Paglas family; Ansari Gumbila; and a still unidentified man.
Reports reaching MindaNews said the victims were riding a motorcycle when waylaid by a group of armed men allegedly led by a certain Nelson Sangkigay, a relative of Datu Wata.
Nelson Sangkigay was injured when Datu Wata retaliated by firing his gun.
Sangkigay was rushed to a clinic in nearby Tacurong City for treatment.
Army authorities led by Lt. Col. Paul Atal, commanding officer of the 75th Infantry Battalion, said that clan wars, or rido, could be behind the killing.
