MARTIAL LAW VICTIMS. Betty de Vera of Claimants 1081 assists an elderly victim of Martial Law in Barangay Nazareth, Cagayan de Oro City on Feb. 7. She and dozens of other victims received $1000 each, an amount derived from a US$10-million settlement over a painting owned by former First Lady and now Leyte Rep. Imelda Marcos. A Hawaiian court pronounced the Marcos dictatorship guilty of human rights violations. Some 10,000 victims filed a class suit versus the Marcoses but many had complained they were removed from the list of claimants. MindaNews photo by Froilan Gallardo
