DAVAO CITY (MindaNews/07 March) – If senatorial elections were held today, no Mindanawon will be elected senator but there is one close enough to join the winning circle, results from the 1st quarter survey of the Social Weather Station (SWS) show. The SWS survey, conducted February 24 to 27 using the names of all 80 persons who filed their candidacies for the Senate, shows the winning 12 is 9-3 in favor of the “non-administration” which is defined as the opposition plus non-administration bets Francisco Pangilinan (Liberal Party) and Gregorio Honasan (Ind).

The Mindanawon closest to the winning circle and considered still “within bounds of statistical error” is 14th placer, Genuine Opposition member Aquilino “Coco” Pimentel (Partido ng Demokratikong Pilipino) who is the choice of 26% of registered voters, after 13th placer Edgardo Angara (Laban ng Demokratikong Pilipino) who is the choice of 27%.

Joselito Cayetano of Davao City, who is being petitioned for disqualification for allegedly being used as a nuisance candidate against Alan Peter Cayetano, landed 26th, after Singson with 6% .
